RBR (Crops) Ltd: Specialist Potato Suppliers

At RBR (Crops) Ltd, we're not just in the business of potato cultivation – we're crafting a legacy. Since our inception in 1965, our foundations have been built upon the collective dreams and efforts of Wal Richmond, Mike Brighton, and Eve Reeve. Together, we embarked on a journey from being potato merchants in Lincolnshire to becoming one of the most reputable potato suppliers in the UK.

Fast-forward to 1967, we found our permanent home at Carlton Farm in North Walsham, Norfolk. Initially a humble fruit farm, we've transformed it into a 12-acre haven for potato cultivation, equipped with state-of-the-art amenities like refrigerated storage, a comprehensive grading system, seamless transportation facilities, and cutting-edge offices. Moreover, our 200ha of arable land is a testament to our commitment to quality and scale.

As we reflect on our growth, our longstanding history in the potato industry fills us with pride. It's a history punctuated with the forging of formidable relationships. From the aisles of the UK's top supermarket chains to collaborating with growers dotted across the nation, our partnerships are a testament to the trust and quality we bring to the table.

It's crucial to note that while we've expanded and scaled, at our core, we remain a family-run enterprise. Mike Brighton, our visionary founder, now serves as the chairman, and the tradition continues with his sons, Mark and Stuart, contributing as key directors. Our ethos is steeped in the belief that every potato we supply is a reflection of our family's commitment to excellence.

Now, let’s delve into what truly sets us apart – our diverse and quality-rich potato offerings:

  • Maris Piper: As a staple in the UK, Maris Piper holds the distinction of being grown on 1 out of every 5 acres dedicated to potato cultivation. Its consistency and adaptability make it a top choice.
  • Desiree: For those who cherish a touch of tradition, our red-skinned Desiree variety is a classic favourite.
  • Estima: Renowned for its versatility, Estima is a preferred choice for everything from boiling to baking.
  • Eos: Our commitment to sustainability is embodied in Eos, a variety which necessitates 20% less Nitrogen fertiliser, all while being drought-resilient.

The list doesn't end here. From the multifaceted Maritiema, the time-honoured King Edward, the creamy Marabel, to the delightful Vivaldi, every variety we nurture is a testament to our expertise. Not to mention our vibrant Rooster variety and the early season favourite, Maris Peer.

In essence, when you choose RBR (Crops) Ltd, you're not just selecting a potato supplier. You're aligning with a legacy, a family, and most importantly, a commitment to unparalleled quality. Join us in our journey and experience the true essence of premium potatoes.
